How to easily loosen/remove festival wristbands

One of the most annoying things about music festivals is that they give you these wristbands that, when tightened, will not loosen. Over a 3 day festival, these can become even tighter and end up hurting your wrist. Sometimes, you just want to take your wristband off w/o cutting it off.
