In the series "Kashmir Ki Sair," DW Urdu explores the unique villages and towns of Kashmir. This episode takes you to the village of Simari, located on the northwestern border of Indian-administered Kashmir. Across the river in Pakistan-administered Kashmir lies another village with the same name. The Kishanganga or Neelum River serves as the border between the two sides of Kashmir.
Simari is not just a village; it holds a rich history dating back to the pre-partition era. The local people in these areas continue to face numerous challenges. Residents live in very difficult conditions, unable to move freely and often separated from relatives living on the other side of the river for long periods.
DW Urdu visited Simari to learn about the area and the issues faced by its residents, shedding light on the struggles and resilience of this unique village.
