5G Challenge - What is the difference between Standalone and Non Standalone 5G?

Here's a tutorial on the telecommunication technologies that impacted the 5G Challenge.  

NTIA's Institute for Telecommunication Sciences (ITS), in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering administered the 2022 and 2023 5G Challenge prize competitions with the goal to:

• Accelerate the adoption of open interfaces, interoperable subsystems, and multi-vendor solutions
• Spur competition, drive down costs, increase supplier diversity, and enable new entrants to take advantage of the expanding 5G marketplace
