Garmin eTrex SE - How To Setup For Geocaching

Are you ready to explore the world of geocaching with your Garmin device? With Garmin's eTrex SE, you can easily discover hidden treasures and participate in the global scavenger hunt known as geocaching. Here's how to get started.

Step 1: Pair Your eTrex SE to Your Smartphone
Pair your eTrex SE to your smartphone via bluetooth. Once paired you will be able to register your GPS device with an activation code on geocaching.com and be able to download geocaches directly onto your device.

Step 2: Create a Geocaching Account
To participate in geocaching, you'll need to create a free account on Geocaching.com. This is the world's largest treasure-hunting community, where you can find and hide geocaches, connect with other geocachers, and track your progress.

Step 3: Register Your Device
Go to Settings - Geocaching - Register Device. You will see a QR code and a registration code. Use your computer to go to the geocaching.com activation page (or scan the QR code). Enter the code and your device will display a message that it is now registered and ready to receive geocaches.

Step 4: Navigate to the Geocache
Once you've downloaded the geocache, navigate to it using your Garmin device. Follow the GPS coordinates and instructions to find the hidden treasure. When you find the geocache, sign the logbook and leave a small item if you want to trade with other geocachers.

Step 5: Log Your Find
After you find a geocache, log your find on the Geocaching app or website. This lets other geocachers know that the cache is still active and helps you track your progress.
