This lesson provides viewers with an overview of the physical characteristics of Southeast Asia and how the people of the region interact with their environment.

Included is an overview of location of the countries of the region:  Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, and the Philippines.  It discusses the formation of mountain chains such as the Arakan and Annamites as well as the volcanic mountains of Indonesia and the Philippines.  It highlights Krakatau; an Indonesian volcano erupting at the time this lesson was made.

It also highlights the importance of the Strait of Malacca to the region, if not the world and the threat piracy plays.

The lesson concludes with a visit to two Thail markets; one on water and another with trains.
