Harambe's former zoo keeper talks about raising the gorilla - Daily Mail

Jerry Stones is the facilities director for the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, Texas - the birthplace of Harambe - and unpacked Harambe's grandparents during their arrival in the US from Africa. When Harambe was born, Stones cared for him like he would his own child. 'I raised him from the day he was born. We hand-raised him. I took him home at night with me,' Stones told ABC News from his station in Texas. 'You know, you get up at midnight and change the diaper, just like you would a human baby. When I took this baby home, I was totally responsible. You become 'Mom,' they look at you just like a human baby.'
