Kodiak bears and Polar bears are the two largest living bears. They rival each other in terms of size, but the polar bear is said to weigh slightly more on average. Polar bears live in the arctic and hunt seals, walruses, and scavenge carcasses away from other animals. Kodiak bears live specifically on the islands of the Kodiak Archipelago in Alaska. They are the largest subspecies of brown bears, beating the grizzly in terms of size. Kodiak bears are considered omnivorous but tend to favor meat like salmon.
