Hello and welcome back to EFD Explains where today we are analyzing how the tiny nation of North Macedonia, born out of the collapse of the former Yugoslavia, rose to enter its first ever tournament this summer, Euro 2020.
A change of identity forced upon it by the Greek government 2 years, a nation that until recently didn’t really support it’s football team and a 37 year old talisman in the form of Goran Pandev this story has it all.
Drawn in Group C alongside the Netherlands, Ukraine and Austria, there is every chance that North Macedonia spring a surprise this summer against all odds, especially with four 3rd place sides progressing to the knockouts.
