Their names are Moritz, Jonas, Dennis, Franz and Felix - and together they are something like the meadow orchard rescuers in their home town of Maintal. They all grew up with the apples and working with the apple trees, but only now, in adulthood, are they interested in the meadow orchards again and want to contribute to their preservation. The film accompanies the five through an apple year: from tree pruning to refinement, meadow care, replanting and harvesting to the wine press. Because one thing is different now than in the days of our grandfathers: the meadow orchards are valuable biotopes and they are on the list of endangered natural sites. The work of the young men and their families is all the more important for the environment and tradition.
