EPIC Front Yard Market Gardening: Jim Kovaleski Passing the Baton To Tanner Johnson [December 2023]

We were grateful for the opportunity to stop by one of the most well know and productive market gardens in Florida. Tanner guided us through the garden tour giving us tips on suppressing weeds, seedlings, cold hearty bananas, and more!

Tanner met Jim after taking his market garden class. After spending time with Jim in Maine and New Port Richey, they got to know each other well.

Jim is a legend in the market garden space. He teamed up with Pete Kanaris of Green Dreams to document his unorthodox super productive gardening techniques. Jim and Pete where both huge inspirations to us when we were first getting started learning about how to grow food. It was an amazing experience getting to walk his property in New Port Richey.

Buying his own property and having a place for his family to grow was what Tanner was really searching for. During his trip up to Maine summer of 2021, Jim mentioned to Tanner the idea of taking over his space in New Port Richey. He was beyond grateful for the opportunity. The universe connected two amazing growers. Jim is passing the baton to Tanner and his family to keep the farm going and take it to the next level.
