We made hard candy mendiants, which are normally made of chocolate, and they turned out really pretty!
Though, they probably shouldn't be called mendiants if they aren't made of chocolate...
~Recipe~ (we were in a hurry so we could only make 11):
1. Prepare dried fruits and nuts to your liking. Cut the large ones. It makes patisserie easier if you plan ahead by lining up the ingredients and garnishes.

To make 11 of them, we used 15 g of dried fruits, 5 g of cashews, and 1 g of pistachios.
2. Put 80 g of caster sugar and 40 g of water in a small pan and set it to medium.
3. After it starts to boil, continue letting it boil as is.
4. Once it is about 150 degrees, take the pan off. If you don't have a thermometer, take up a small amount with a wooden skewer, etc., and drop it into water. If it hardens stiffly, then it's ready.
5. On top of a baking sheet, place one teaspoon ball at a time.
6. Place (1) before the candy hardens.

As we touched it many times with the spoon when scooping it up, it ended up looking white and blurry after crystallizing.

7. Finished! It looks great!

If you bite from the top it's crunchy. Of course, you can also eat it by licking it.

The dried fruits from Tomizawa Shoten have beautiful color and are delicious.
