A former Student Oscar® winner for Sadakat (2015), Ilker Çatak was born in Berlin in 1984. In 1996, he moved with his family to Istanbul. Following his graduation, he returned to Germany and gathered firsthand experience working on film productions. He studied at the DEKRA Media University in Berlin and received an M.A. from the Hamburg Media School. His filmography includes the features Once Upon A Time in Indian Country (2017), I Was I Am I Will Be (2019), and Stambul Garden (2020).

In a time of uncertainty and new challenges for our film community, the German Film Office is pleased to offer a new opportunity for theaters across the United States to present a curated selection of new fllms from Germany. KINO! Germany NOW! enables art-house cinemas and film festivals to book recent films fresh from the international festival circuit for both virtual and in-person screenings.
