C-RAM (Counter-Rocket, Artillery, Mortar) LPWS ( Intercept Land-Based Phalanx Weapon System) is a modified Navy CIWS (Close-In Weapon System) designed to intercept enemy indirect fire.
It is mounted on a 35-ton semitrailer and is composed of the M61A1 20mm Gatling gun that is capable of firing 4,500 rounds per minute.
The system is optimized to use the M940 ammunition that is designed to self-destruct beyond 2,000 meters to minimize collateral damage.
