This time, I took the first level of the Statistics Certificate!
The Statistics Certification Test is designed to certify “statistics professionals” and requires a very advanced and deep understanding of statistics.
Statistics is an elective subject in the essay-type examinations for CPAs, and passing the Statistics Certification Test Level 1 proves that you have the academic ability to score almost always a perfect score. In this sense, the result is also very important, but this time it was not supposed to be!
■Personally good study method for Statistics Certification Test Level 1
*It is assumed that you have some understanding of the contents of Statistics Certification Test Level 2.
1) “Statistics Practice Workbook” (Japan Statistical Society)
In fact, you can learn all the necessary concepts for statistical mathematics by thoroughly studying chapters 1-14 of this reference book for Level 1. I was able to learn relatively smoothly by reading the text based on examples.
Since the contents of chapters 15 and after become statistical applications, I think it is a good idea to pick and choose according to the subject you have chosen. It is not necessary to understand everything perfectly, but it would be good to have a sense of decisiveness and sharpness, to the extent of saying, “This part is difficult to understand, so let's discard it even in the exam.
(2) “Statistics” (Japan Statistical Society)
This reference book for Level 1 is good only for lightly reviewing the parts not included in (1). It is recommended to solve some of the practice problems at the end of the chapters in the areas you are not good at.
It is also useful to check the scope of statistical applications.
(3) “Official Question Book for Statistics Test Level 1 and Level 1
After that, just go through the past exam papers. I did four years' worth, but be sure to solve the questions in a well-structured manner (for example, multiple regression analysis is a basic method). (For example, if you are not going to solve multiple regression analysis, you can discard that part of the past exam.)
If you can learn the above, I think you will pass the Statistics Proficiency Test Level 1 in no time!
