Sangam-dong is the neighborhood that
Sangam-dong is the neighborhood that has risen from Garbage and transformed into the media capital and magnificent parks in the wake of the FIFA 2002 World Cup. A large part of Sangam is Nanjido, a piece of land once a Han River Island. Until the early ’90s, this island was Seoul’s landfill or garbage dump. At some point, the landfill rose almost 100 meters, what might have been the world’s tallest waste dump site. Something had to be done: the environmental issues, the smell, the expanding city, and the FIFA World Cup. The landfill transformed into the parks we know today as ‘Sky Park’ and ‘Noeul Park’ (Among many others). Beautiful parks throughout all four seasons, with a view to all directions. In between both parks, an incineration plant provides heat to many residents, offices, and even the World Cup stadium. There're many things to discover in Sangam-dong. 상암동은 기존에 쓰레기 매립지였던 곳이 2002 피파 월드컵과 함께 미디어 수도와 아름다운 공원으로 탈바꿈한 곳입니다. 상암동의 큰 부분은 난지도라는 곳인데 한때는 한강의 섬이었던 곳입니다. 90년대 초반, 이 곳은 서울의 쓰레기 매립지, 혹은 쓰레기장이었습니다. 어느 순간 매립지는 100미터 까지 솟아올랐고 당시 세계에서 가장 높은 쓰레기 매립지 중 하나일 정도였습니다. 환경문제와 냄새, 팽창하는 도시.. 그리고 FIFA 월드컵이 닥쳐오면서 도시는 조치를 취해야 했습니다. 그 매립지는 '하늘공원'과 '노을공원'으로 탈바꿈했죠. 이 공원들은 사계절 내내 아름다움을 자랑하며 사방으로 서울의 풍경을 즐길 수 있습니다. 이 두 공원 사이에는 소각장이 하나 있는데, 이 곳에서 발생하는 열로 주변의 집과 사무실, 심지어 월드컵 경기장에까지 열을 공급합니다. 상암동에는 참 많은 것들이 숨겨져 있습니다. 저의 영상을 통해 함께 구경해봐요! 웰컴 투 마이 '동'!
