LEAD IN:
Iranian fashion designers are displaying their latest Islamic inspired collections on the catwalk in the capital Tehran.
It's the second event of its kind showing off stylish garments that don't flout the government's dress code for women.
Organisers hope to set a trend towards Islamic dress and away from  western models and designs.
STORYLINE:
Since the 1979 Islamic revolution, Iran's laws say all women must wear a veil and a long coat to cover the head and conceal the body.
The compulsory wearing of the 'hijab' (head covering) has sometimes caused friction between some women and the the Islamic government
Ghand Foroush,  Advisor to the Iranian Interior Minister on Women says that they want to promote designs by local designers that consider Islamic and Iranian values.
The hijab and the chador (long robe worn by Muslim women), two of the garments worn by most Iranian women, are becoming increasingly elaborate.
While some young Iranian women are opting to wear increasingly westernised styles, these garments are traditional and inspired by Islamic culture.
Designers hope this latest collection will be popular in Islamic countries across the region.
