Volcanologist makes 'ash angel' after Russian volcano erupts

The Shiveluch volcano on Russia’s Far Eastern Kamchatka Peninsula continued erupting on Tuesday (11 April), spewing an ash plume up to 15 km into the sky, according to the regional branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Heavy ash fall was seen in nearby villages, and the institute declared the highest danger level for aviation, Russian news agencies reported.

Shiveluch is one of the largest volcanoes on Kamchatka with a height of over 3,200 meters.
