This Advanced Ultralight Technique Will Help You Catch More Fish!

If you have been following along for a while, you have seen me use this technique several times by now. Whether around overhanging trees, docks, or any other cover which could get in the way of a standard cast, shooting a jig is a must-have technique for anyone who fishes with ultralight a lot. You will often hear people talk about dock-shooting, which I demonstrated in this video, but I have used this casting technique around far more than just docks with success. While I would classify this technique as "advanced", I definitely want to be clear that it isn't necessarily difficult. Just like anything else, it simply takes practice. With repetition, I think you will find that shooting an ultralight jig into hard-to-reach places becomes pretty easy. I can also tell you with confidence that if you learn how to do this accurately, you will land more fish. You will also likely catch large fish, as that has been my experience. Fish that position deep under cover are not accustomed to seeing fishing lures drop on their nose, because most anglers aren't able to make these casts.
