“Mendelssohn Unknown” is the most complete and up-to-date documentary about Felix Mendelssohn ever made till now. The narrative structure is based on the original letters of Mendelssohn and his sister Fanny. The various themes covered by the documentary include: his training, his religious and cultural identity, his journey to Italy, his relation with Bach and his rediscovery, the Leipzig years, the oblivion following his death and the recent unearthing of many important unpublished works.
