This Corner Clamp / Frame Clamp Jig video shows a design to help with joining two work  pieces with 45 degree angle miter cuts for use in making picture frames, boxes or there square/rectangular woodworking projects. The jig first clamps down on the two work pieces and then micro-adjustment features are used to make a tight fitting joint. There is access to all four surfaces of the joint to check fit, clean up excess glue, or to add other fasteners like screws or brad nails. Multiple instances of the jig can be used to clamp all four corners of a picture frame, and for that matter jigs can be used on both top and bottom of tall work piece such as with boxes. The jig is inexpensive to make with majority of the cost being the bolt hardware. As an estimate I figure it cost about $2 in hardware and $1 in wood for total of $3 to make this jig.

Google Sketchup CAD tool was used for the upfront design. There is a dimensioned 3D CAD model is available if interested for this project. The CAD model for this project is located on the Sketchup official model database at the below link in case it may be help with your project: https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/.
