There are areas of the skin that are darker than other areas of the skin. For example you might notice on your hands the upper part is dark and the lower part is light and there's a line that runs in between these lines are called as pigmentary demarcation lines. So sometimes people have these pigmented demarcation lines on the face as well. So there is a line running like this. So above that it's dark below that it's lighter some people have a v-shaped line near the mouth. So these are all normal pigmentary demarcation lines. However some people have more darkness only on the forehead. This may be due to multiple causes. It may be due to tanning it may be due to pigmentary demarcation lines which are looking more pronounced it may be due to friction. So in people who are offering prayers like namaz. They develop friction related pigmentation. So there are various causes and there are other diseased conditions like lichen planus pigmentosus malasma etc that can have a patchy pigmentation on the forehead. So treatment of pigmentation or darkening of the skin on the forehead needs proper diagnosis. First why the condition is happening and based on that treatment can be given just giving some creams to reduce pigmentation may not help in all conditions. So if you have some darkening on your head there are various types of treatments that can be done skin lightening agents like kojic acid licorice extract. Glycolic acid are used then chemical peels are done Q switch lasers are done. So you can discuss these options with your dermatologist. Depending on the disease condition you have and of course most importantly we need to treat the disease which is causing the pigmentation.
