Pande sar dandane beshnow ze bone dandan.                                  In high school we used to learn and memorize some poetries from famous Iranian poets. One poetry among others was in my mind  was the poetry by Khaghani, (1121-1190), born in the old city of Shirvan, and died in Tabriz, Iran. He wrote this poetry visiting Taghe Kasra or Ayvane Madaen, the biggest brick work in the world, built by Parthian empire(274 BC-224 AD), and then expanded extensively by Sasanian empire who ruled more than 400 years (224 AD-651AD), and used it during seasonal change.
I found this whole poetry in the Web, Ganjoor, and  I was so impressed by such a great job, putting all Iranian poets and their poetries in the Web, accessible for everyone in the world, and of course thanks to the Web, also which makes  these good events possible.
My intention was to accompany this poetry with music, then I thought it may be disruptive to understanding and perception of the poetry.(please look up for Ganjoor for this poetry and more)
Sasanian who stood firmly in front of the great Roman Army several times and defeated them, for some reasons, they could not or did not stop the Arab invasion, and were defeated by them, which brought devastating outcome for Iranians nationality, heritage, emotionally, and socially.
Khaghani after seeing this grand remnant, with the powerful foamy river and the whole scenery, in his famous poetry with great mastery shows the images, and visualized what might has have been happening on those times, if we look back with "the eyes of the thought" as he points it out. What was going on there at that time, were they nice to the people, were they working for them?  Or they rather having a good time,  or they were facing a kind  of unpredictable enemy with different tactics, and so on. But one thing he may considerd is, if they had a good relationship with the people, and the things were in order as before, the Arabs possibly could not be able  to dominate and bring devastating results to Iran. Khaghani was not only a great poet, but also human rights advocate, and philosopher. He maintained that man is not immortal, but his actions and deeds, specially the rulers, will persists, which will effects accordingly the generations to come. He was also a chess player. After return to Shirvan, was imprisoned by Shirvanshah , and got out after 5 years, and went to Tabriz and remained there till to the end, and he did not have such a pleasant life. By the way you can sing this poetry with the music.
