Many things contribute to making life on Earth possible, but none more so than the Chloroplast.

Chloroplasts are tiny, oval-shaped energy factories that circulate inside the cells of plants and algae.

Photons of sunlight enter a chloroplast, and get caught in round stacks called "grana". Inside, specialized structures called photosystems use the light energy to carry out photosynthesis.

Chloroplasts are the source of nearly all the food and oxygen sustaining the entire living world.
