Shadow light art by Julia Dantonnet

Nocturne was a beautiful, immersive light installation created by French artist Julia Dantonnet for the Lyon - Fête des Lumières in 2019. Set on the facade of the renaissance courtyard of the Gadagne Museum, the shadow carousel created lovely silhouettes of nocturnal creatures emerging from a forest.

The soundscape which was both tranquil and dramatic was created by Shantidas Riedacker. This simple, low-tech installation is reminiscent of the pre-cinema inventions of the 19th century. It also echoes Shadow Theatre, one of the oldest forms of puppetry.
