On May 31, 2013, a 2.6-mile wide EF-5 tornado impacted parts of Canadian County, Oklahoma, south of the town of El Reno. Mobile Doppler radar revealed that wind speeds during maximum intensity reached nearly 300 MPH, making this tornado the largest (in terms of path width) and second-strongest (in terms of wind speed) ever recorded. Storm Chasers Dean and Leslie Burton of InterceptImages.com captured this video from a distance of several miles southeast of the track of the storm, during the time when the tornado was at its largest and most intense.
