SOLD - Lots has been written regarding the correctness of the 1966 Bonneville TT Special over the years and there are many, many more knowledgeable on the subject than I. However, the bike I have here, although restored, appears to be as factory correct as I can research and I would welcome any more information in aiding me find the next custodian of the bike!

The Vintage Motor Cycle Club Ltd of Staffordshire have inspected evidence of the matching numbers example offered here with frame and engine numbers of T120TTDU31480 and conclude that the bike was manufactured by Triumph in Coventry in 1966. The evidence of the material used to confirm this was supplied on a certificate, allowing the previous owner to register the bike with the DVLA here in the UK with an age related 'D' prefix number plate.

Concours is a much over used phrase nowadays, especially by those who are trying to sell something. I would be happy to describe the end result of this restoration, completed 4 years ago by a very well respected Triumph specialist, as close to concours as humanly possible without having a new original specimen placed side by side to compare with. The condition and attention to detail taken by the restorer are simply spectacular.
The tank is beautifully finished in the correct 1966 colour combination of Alaskan White with Grenadier Red stripes edged in bronze, the finish is perfectly flat with no 'edges' noticeable as the colours merge. The black parts such as the frame, forks and swinging arm all show a deep smooth black lustre. The engine and gearbox assembly has been fully rebuilt to include new main bearings, new barrel with original Hepolite pistons, new valves & guides, an alternator stator, primary chain and clutch and gearbox bearings. New seals, gaskets and tab washers were used and the engine is a delight to look at with no oil leaks. Again, research shows that this production years bikes were fitted with a single piece air filter box and razor edged aluminium mudguards, this bike displays both.

OK, this bike is never going to be cheap although we feel the asking price more than reasonable for a work of art such as this. It would be a timeless task with vast expense to build a bike to this standard.

Please look at the numerous high resolution photos on our website and if of interest, get in touch - we also welcome any inspection.
