How to repair Refrigerator Freezer Not Cold Enough - Troubleshooting Heater Element

This is a GE fridge that had the food starting to go bad and the ice cream really soft. That was the first sign. The problem was not that it couldn't get cold. That part was working perfectly. It's that the fridge also needs to periodically melt the ice that builds upon the fins. The heating element in this fridge burned out just like a lightbulb does, and then it would not melt the ice. The ice then gets so massive it stops all airflow. The only way to keep food at the correct temp is with airflow. This fridge is a GE GSS25JERF BB The BB part of the model number bust means that the finish is black. The Heating Element was part number G7102
The part I replaced for this model fridge was a GE WR51X10055 Refrigerator Defrost Heater and Assembly, 725 Watts, 12 Inch. See it here http://amzn.to/2dUGLsF
