Yellowjackets & WDR BIG BAND - Downtown | GRAMMY Nomination 2022

+++The WDR BIG BAND CD album "Jackets XL" is nominated for the GRAMMY 2022 in the category "Best large Jazz ensemble album".

With 40 years of stage experience, the Yellowjackets are one of the leading ensembles of "Contemporary Jazz". The quartet was founded by Robben Ford in the late 1970s and since then the Yellowjackets created their own, unmistakable sound, which combines acoustic and electric jazz in a special way. In addition to multiple nominations, the band has twice won the coveted Grammy music prize.

With the CD project "JacketsXL - Yellowjackets & WDR Big Band", the two ensembles once again reaffirm their decades of collaboration. After the release of the video "One Day" here comes the title "Downtown", composed by Russel Ferrante and arranged for the WDR Big Band by chief composer Vince Mendoza. Solos are played by Soli spielen Dane Alderson on E-Bass, Johan Hörlén on Alto Saxophone and Will Kennedy on Drums. Recorded in November 2019 at WDR Studio4, Cologne.
