The first blue plaque in
The first blue plaque in the UK honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his 1961 speech at Bloomsbury Baptist Church was unveiled in the capital on January 24th, 2024. Led by Nubian Jak Community Trust and joined by Camden Council, the U.S. Embassy London, and Jonathan Eig, Dr. King joins 18 other Black figures commemorated by the London Blue Plaque scheme. As we begin U.S. Black History Month, Dr. King’s ethos of equality and justice continues to inspire our actions.
