2 beef shanks (approximately 1 1/2 lb to 1 3/4 lb), cut into large chunks
6 tbsp cooking oil
15 to 18 cloves garlic, roughly chopped
2 oz ginger slices
1/2 large onion, sliced
5 green onions, chopped
