Actor, playwright, poet, public speaker and soon published author Darrick Johnson continues to use his creative spirit as a means to Influence, Educate, Entertain and his classroom happens to be on stage. He's the artistic director of "By any Mean's" Edu-tainment, artists who use their creative gifts to challenge and stimulate minds in hope of transforming lives so to build confidence and enhance critical thinking in a constructive way.
Darrick has written and performed:
IN THE NAME OF LOVE - A poetic drama in its 2010 debut performance which concluded with a surprise wedding proposal to then girlfriend and co-star Cameo who now is the other half of this husband and wife team.
SAME GOAL DIFFERENT VIEW, LOVE IS REVOLUTIONARY - An informative clash of Ideologies, that serves to remind us of the need to agree to disagree without being negatively disagreeable and in doing so, we're often able to see the objective just might be the same.
“MALCOLM X” AN AMERICAN LEGEND - A One-Man show that takes on a journey highlighting the life and legacy of the world’s most powerful revolutionary. The show toured Greenville South Carolina, selling out 8 shows in June of 2013.
Darrick has an extensive history of performances both big and small alike, from the OPEN MIC POETRY SCENE all around the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area; Baltimore, Maryland, New Jersey as well Down South in Georgia and Biloxi Mississippi.
He's performed “THE MEETING”, an Intense and surprisingly humorous drama questioning what would happen had Malcolm X and Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. joined forces in the fight for civil rights.
Darrick served as an extra in the HBO drama THE WIRE.
In 2012 performed in a two week run in the musical stage play: “THE COLOR PURPLE.”
July 2017 performed Jenkins brother’s production of “BLACK BOY BLUES". A fictionalized drama that loosely reveals the tragic story of Black wall street , a very influent Black community in Tulsa Oklahoma that was destroyed by racism
Darrick continues to serve as a public speaker, mentor, activist and current facilitator of a spiritually based Men's empowerment group known as THE GATHERING OF MEN, a proud father of two adult daughters’ and a Man of the people who seeks to use his creative gift to make a positive contribution here in our world the reality behind “Potential is God's gift to us, what we do with it is our gift to God!” – Darrick Johnson
