Custom Bike Show #50 – June 1, 2024
9000 visitors joined in celebrating the 50th Custom Bike Show in
Societetsparken in Norrtälje! The show was held as usuall the first Saturday
in June, which is now a well established cultural event for anyone who likes
custom built motorcycles and motorcycles in general.
The first exhibition was held in 1971, that day there were 46 motorcycles,
now there were over 4000 motorcycles, of which 200 of them were exhibited in
6 different classes, the classes was HD-Chopper, Chopper, Custom, Racer,
Classic, Modified standard, Best paint, The Twin Club Jury award and the
Peoples choice.
Visitors and exhibitors came from the Nordic countries, the Baltic
countries, Germany, Poland, Holland, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, etc.
Counting the number of first prizes, Finland won over Sweden 5-3.
With all the visitors and nice weather, it was a perfect anniversary day! In
addition to the exhibition, there was a complete package with live music, a
demonstration of advanced motorcycle riding, Top Fuel drag bike starts,
restaurant selection and a mini fair.
Riding a motorcycle to Norrtälje on the first Saturday in June is a long and
well-established tradition for anyone who has spent the winter building or
rebuilding their motorcycle. For many it is also the first test drive, the
stories of those who have been up until midnight the day before and then go
to Norrtälje during the night and be there when the exhibition opens in the
morning, are many and recurring. Standing on the podium at the Custom Bike
Show is proof that you belong to the best of motorcycle builders. The
competition is fierce and the winning builds are usually world-class. So
also this year where creativity and quality were high.
The most competitors were in the HD-Chopper class with just under 60
motorcycles. Here first and second prize went to Finland, Rezi Oulu won and
second place to Ismo Keski-Korpi. These both took first and second prize in
the jury's choice category. Third was Eric Boström from Ekerö.
The chopper class was won by Håkan Lindberg from Huddinge with a Triumph,
Håkan also won the prize for best paint. The classic class gathered just
under 40 competitors, here Mats Olofsson from Enskeddalen won with a Brough
Superior from 1925. Second prize went to Hans Candeborn from Norrtälje with
an Indian from 1948.
In the Racer class and the Modified Standard class, the first prizes went to
Finland. Racer was won by Jukka "Jiiha" Haapala from Turku with a "Mumbai
Ripper". Modified Standard was won by Petteri Heinonen from Jämsänkoski.
This year's Jury consisted of Polina Krasnova photographer, Franz Francesco
bike builder from Norway, Daniel Andersson bike builder, Owe Brandt
legendary bike rider and Per-Henric Pettersson from Twin Club Mc. The winner
of the jury's first prize was Rezi Oulu from Finland.
The audience's prize for best motorcycle went to Peter Forsberg from
Brooklyn Choppers in Gävle with a somewhat "Hippie-influenced" motorcycle
build. Peter is a creative gentleman and has been on the podium at the
Custom Bike Show several times with many different builds.

An anniversary day in the park offers more than just a motorcycle
exhibition, Rikard Gustafsson from Falkenberg showed and started up his drag
racing motorcycle. On stage Black Paisley and legendary Sky High
entertained, for the hungry and thirsty there was a restaurant area with a
wide selection.
