We never expected to have a community on social media, but now that we do, our priority has always been to use it for good. So about a year ago, Katie and I began researching nonprofits we could bring into our Mission to Spread Smiles.
Enter @WarriorCanineConnection They train service dogs for veterans using a Mission Based Trauma Recovery model. I love this model because every dog helps dozens of veterans in the ~2-year training process before being paired with their veteran as a service dog.
On a recent visit to WCC, I noticed they use bully sticks for positive association training but didn't have Bow Wow Buddies to help prevent choking and intestinal blockage. So I reached out to our friends at @bowwowlabs
We love Bow Wow Labs and often post about their products because they have the potential to save lives. But their response to our request made us love them even more!
They offered to supply 150 Bow Wow Buddies for all the WCC service dogs in training. This is huge because once the puppies are old enough, they go home with volunteer puppy raisers who have a challenging job and could use some time to relax. Plus, they committed to providing every WCC service dog a graduation give of a Bow Wow Buddy starter kit and a bully stick subscription!
