This is an easy job, and you’ll know it’s time to replace the pads on your Rancher when you notice a little fade in the brakes. As the pads wear, there is less material to dissipate heat, contributing to a loss of stopping power. John will show you how to remove the tire, get the caliper removed from the unit, and then remove the brake pads. Then, we’ll get some replacement brake pads on our Honda Rancher, get the caliper back in place, and reinstall the wheel. The torque required for the lug nuts on this wheel is 47 foot-pounds. When you’re done, be sure to pump the brake lever a couple of times to push the brake pads in a bit in the caliper. Otherwise, you might not have much braking the first time you pull the lever.
