Assembly Election Results: Early trends from Tamil Nadu election results showed that the DMK is well ahead of the ruling AIADMK, which has an alliance with the BJP in the state. MK Stalin's DMK and its allies are leading in over 140 seats and the AIDMK in 92. The DMK has not been in power in the state for a decade, and this time the party and the AIADMK are contesting without their towering leaders, J Jayalalithaa and M Karunanidhi whose deaths have brought a huge change in the political landscape.
