Gujarat High Court rejects 10 per cent reservation for EWS

The Gujarat High Court on Thursday has quashed the state government ordinance of 10 per cent quota for the economically backward section (EWS) in education and government jobs. This comes at a time when the state is reeling under the protest by Dalits that lead to the resignation of Anandiben Patel from the post of chief minister.

The High Court has ruled that the ordinance to be unconstitutional and illegal under the guideline of the Supreme Court. The government had announced the quota to pacify the Patidar agitation.
