I used lots of little dabs, and worked in layers,
1) Lightest value to wash over but... leaving white space
2) Mid Value adding in some little dabs
3) Let dry and add in your darkest values (wet on dry) for defined hard edges and details

📜On PAPER… I’ve used Artisto and Meeden for many, many years, and you’ll see me use one or the other in most many of my tutorials. My Artisto paper recommendation is student grade, handles lots of water better, and is good for wet on wet. My Meeden paper suggestion is 100% cotton, finer grade, and a bit more expensive.
