Have you ever tried painting something using only black
and white colors? Hi, my name is Ksenia. And One of the assignments in the semester drawing program at the Russian Academy of Arts is grisaille.
Grisaille is a monochrome painting technique based on the use of only one color in different tonal variations. Some old masters used grisaille as a basis for future painting, they made a full tone drawing and then added color with glazes.
In this video I will show you the whole process of creating such work, including making a special matte thinner, surface preparation, mixing base color and so much more. You may find a lot of useful information here!
