Before you begin construction, there are a number of things you should first do in preparation. Firstly, choose a spot in your garden or allotment that is protected from strong winds. Positioning your hobby polytunnel in a spot that will attract the most sunlight will be highly beneficial.
Ideally, the area of land you select to site your new polytunnel on should be flat and level. Therefore, it is important you clear any unwanted rocks or debris before beginning construction. If building on a slight slope, make sure to build your polytunnel vertical, not perpendicular to the slope.
In most cases if you’re capable of putting together flat-pack furniture then erecting a polytunnel shouldn’t be too difficult. But, if it’s your first time we recommend that you pencil in a full weekend, as it can be a timely process. Ask a friend or two to help you put together your new polytunnel.
