India States Song by http://www.guruparents.com
This India States Song teaches children the 29 states of India and the 7 union territories of India. This video is also an India map song, with the name of each state or union territory appearing on the map as spoken. The lyrics are spoken in clear English and give a fact about each state or territory – whether it be greenery in Kerala, details of states’ food, or information on their geographical features.
This children education video is aimed at children in India and the world so that they become familiar with the geography of India. We hope Indians in England, America, Australia and all over the world will be interested in educating their kids on the Indian union territories and states.
Throughout the history of India numerous changes have occurred to the states and union territories; even as recently as two months before publication 28 states of India became 29 states of India with the Telangana announcement. We have not included any details of failed states or other historical references. We have chosen to use the most up to date names: Odisha rather than Orissa and Uttarakhand, not Uttaranchal.
Whether you hail from northeastern India, from the southwest or anywhere in between (or indeed from anywhere in the world) and regardless of whether you speak English, Hindi or one of India’s many other languages, we hope you enjoy this India States song.
Lyrics:
Let’s start our trip in Kerala - the scenery is so fine
Then we're Tamil Nadu bound - its capital is Chennai
Andhra Pradesh is next - it produces lots of rice
Now we’ll go to Goa - its beaches are so nice
Over to Odisha: ancient temples to explore
Then back to Telangana – the newest state of all
Karnataka, here we are – it’s famous for IT
And now to Maharashtra; Mumbai’s the place to be!
In Chhattisgarh look near and far, there’s lots of vegetation
Madhya Pradesh is next in the centre of the nation
We’ll catch a train to Gujarat – the jewel of the west
And now the state of Rajasthan – it’s bigger than the rest
Jharkhand is where forests grow, strong and green and tall
Kolkata is the capital of the state of West Bengal
Now we'll fly to Manipur, in India's north east
Then it's off to Nagaland for festivals and a feast
When we go to Tripura, Agartala's where we'll stay
Then we'll visit Mizoram - it's not that far away.
Onwards to Assam where the tea is nice and hot
Meghalaya is a spot where it sure does rain a lot
Arunachal Pradesh is next - haven't we come far?
Sikkim is the state where the fewest people are
In Bihar we'll eat sattu - it really does taste great.
Uttar Pradesh has more people than any other state
Uttarakhand is next - we'll do a mountain climb today
Now it's Haryana - in Faridabad we'll stay
The famous state of Punjab is the next place that we'll go
In Himachal Pradesh there is quite a lot of snow
Of the places that we’ve been, that was number 28
Jammu and Kashmir is our next and final state
So 29 states we’ve seen but it’s not the end yet is it?
There are still the union territories that we have to visit
We'll start down in the islands: Andaman and Nicobar
Then we’ll travel north to that pretty city: Chandigarh
Daman and Diu form one territory
Now let’s go to Lakshadweep - the islands in the sea
Four places make up Puducherry rather than just one
Dadra and Nagar Haveli is next; our journey’s nearly done
So now we come to Delhi - our final destination
It's the right place to conclude our trip - the capital of the nation.
