In this video we went underwater to see how taping the edges of a cast net affects how open it is when it hits the bottom. We compared this to another net with the same radius (7 ft.) and mesh, only this net didn't have tape around the edges. We found the taped net had at least twice the diameter of the non taped net. We would strongly recommend taping your nets when shrimping in depths greater than 10 ft.
