Israel braces for possible attack from Iran

Britain, France and Germany urged Iran to refrain from attacking Israel as the US ordered the deployment of a missile submarine to the region in anticipation of a strike.

In a joint statement on Monday, Sir Keir Starmer joined the leaders of France and Germany in warning Iran against the attack it has vowed to carry out after Israel assassinated the leader of Hamas in Tehran last month.

“We call on Iran and its allies to refrain from attacks that would further escalate regional tensions and jeopardise the opportunity to agree a ceasefire and the release of hostages. They will bear responsibility for actions that jeopardise this opportunity for peace and stability,” the statement said.
