_"If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever-- the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. (John 14:15-21)
[Thinking & Understanding]
Those who love Jesus keep Jesus’ commandments. Jesus said that he would send the disciples a Helper. Although Jesus would depart from them, he would soon return. He would be with his disciples eternally not in a physical way but in a completely new way. ‘Helper’ meant one who would help and defend. This ‘Helper’ was the Spirit of Truth, also known as the Holy Spirit. He would teach the disciples, show Jesus to them and help them to keep the commandments (vv. 15-21).
Vv. 16-17 God did not abandon the disciples but sent a Helper. Although we are weak and the world is powerful, the Holy Spirit helps believers who stand on the side of the Almighty Truth to endure and keep their faith in this world. Are you entrusting yourself to the Holy Spirit who makes us new even today?
Vv. 15, 21 Those who love the Lord keep his commandments and are loved by the Lord who helps them to keep his commandments. Love for the Lord is the driving force behind the keeping of the new command ‘to love’. Let’s serve the world with greater and deeper love by learning from the Lord’s example.

For a while, I thought life was empty, so I breathed a deep sigh. For some reason at that time, my heart was stuffy, I felt free, and I felt abandoned. Then the Holy Spirit of Truth made me realize through the word that the Lord was my father and I was his son. When the Holy Spirit came to me personally in my life, I felt very free. And I realized that he was always with me and that he would be with me forever. And he made me dream of the Kingdom of God.

I pray that our Lord will comfort the children who are dying in the arms of their parents, the children who have lost their parents and become orphans, and the countless people who have given their lives by parting from their families to protect the country.
