It was our first visit to Melaka after the pandemic and this time it was a day trip. We basically spend about 6 hours doing all the touristy things.

Our 1st stop was a Malay restaurant at Bukit Katil. We tried the Asam Pedas and fried crab. The restaurant is quite popular among tourists and locals. It was quite busy on that day we visited. If you don’t have big appetite, they also have  goreng pisang stall. Lotsa locals drop by for freshly fried goreng pisang.

Jonker street was not as busy, some shops were closed probably because it was public holiday. I’m guessing some people went for the Merdeka parada and by the time we reached Melaka (2.30pm), these people are already resting at home.

I managed to grab a coffee from one of the famous coffee shop in Melaka, The Daily Fix. Last I went in was in 2015. They now have a coffee section at the front and they sell some souvenirs from earrings to tote bags etc.

We also visited the famous yellow building - Mamee Jonker House. Were quite full from lunch just now, if not I would have had a big bowl of Mamee curry noodles. So we just look see look see only.

We then headed to Cendol Jam Besar. My husband is a fan of Cendol so we simply had to try the Cendol Jam Besar and their famous Jus Tembikai Sebiji. I love the plain cendol and the juice tembikai, albeit quite small, was quite a lot for the three of us. Tak habis minum.

The Dutch Square is so happening with street performance and mascot in costumes.. We saw a girl showcasing her violin skills. She is so talented and we were mesmerised by her performance.

We took a trishaw to the Melaka river cruise which costed us RM25. Lucky we can still share a trishaw. Imran is getting bigger so the trishaw ride was just “muat muat” je. It was just a short ride anyway.

My son really enjoyed the Melaka River Cruise. We had to wait for a while though for our turn to ride the ferry. Now that we had tried the day ride, I’m thinking of whether or not we should try the night ride in our next visit.

Our last activity was dinner at Kg Hulu. There’s this place called Makan Avenue that’s similar to a food court where you can get everything under one roof. We had the Asam Pedas again but this time with beef, and some seafood to go with our rice.

We left Melaka at about 8.30pm after dinner. There are many other things we did not manage to do due to the short visit but it was a very enjoyable trip for our little family nonetheless. We will definitely return again, and this time, for other things.

Thank you for taking the time to read. Please subscribe if you haven’t already. I would love to have you on this channel 🙂
