History of the Roman Theater:
When the Romans took the theater from the Greeks, they introduced developments to it that gave it a distinct appearance. In addition to the simplicity that was characteristic of the Greek theater, as they used to build their theaters on a naturally sloping ground. And it is considered good in acoustics and vision, as well as the simplicity in its execution.

Roman architectural style of the theatre:
As for the Roman architectural style of the theater, it was built on a flat land almost in a semicircle on the basis of a self-standing building with distinctive external walls. This theater lacks simplicity compared to the Greek theater.

Theatrical arts:
When we come to the side of the theatrical arts, we find that the first Roman theater was established in 80 B.C. in the city of (Pompeii). And the Romans took the theatrical arts from the Greeks. But at the beginning, they did not try to establish their own art. Almost all Roman plays were imitations or loose translations of Greek drama, to the extent that they performed it in a Greek costume.

Closseum:
One of the most famous ancient Roman theatres is (the Closseum Building). It was constructed of travertine stone in an elliptical shape with a circumference of 1,700 feet. The height of its outer wall was 157 feet, and it was divided into three floors. Some of its first floor was built on Tuscany- rotational columns. Its second floor was based on Ionic pillars, and the third was on Corinthian pillars, and between each of the two columns are knots.
