Over the recent years, movie ratings have been floppy, some good, some bad. Some just downright unbelievable, even.
The Old Way, released in January 2023 by Saban Films is one of those bizzare ones that have you side glaring, eyebrow raised, being like 'what went wrong here?'
It's no joke to say last year had some really big l's when it came to the movies released. These days, lots of films try too hard to portray messages, or to conceptualize some bizarre political view. And to be honest, it wouldn't be so annoying and in your face if it were kept to a bare minimum.
Starring Nicholas Cage, and a young talent by Keira Armstrong, The Old Way is one of those movies you could probably actually see yourself finishing. And if you look at most of the negative reviews, the problem a lot of people had is that the movie itself didn't try introducing anything new to the genre that we already haven't seen. Some of these negative reviews even highlighted how good the actors were.
But if the face value of the rating score is to let you know if you'd enjoy the 1 hour or more you spent watching the movie, or at least if you wouldn't cringe too much watching it, then you obviously shouldn't expect it to be always accurate. Those ratings come from people, just like you and I.
