Hello everyone!

It's time for a new video series on our YouTube channel and sachsbck. This time, we're diving into the fascinating topic of improvisation. Why? Because soon we'll be launching a brand-new course: "Five Elements of Improvisation". In this course, we won't just be looking at the usual scales and chord tones, but we'll delve into the five key elements that make up an outstanding solo.

After conducting a survey, I found that there are certain areas where many of you need support, whether it's holding the form, mastering rhythm, memorizing melodies, or training your ear. That's why I want to address these five key elements in this series and help you take your improvisational skills to the next level.

1. Harmony and Melody: Let's start with the foundation of any piece - harmony and melody. Here, we'll focus on the right tones, chord progressions, and melodic lines.

2. Form Control: Many struggle to maintain the form of a piece during improvisation. We'll explore techniques to counteract this.

3. Rhythm: Proper rhythm is crucial for bringing a solo to life. We'll learn various rhythm patterns and techniques.

4. Memorization: How can you effectively memorize and retain melodies? This is especially important for improvising flexibly without relying on sheet music.

5. Ear Training: A trained ear is key to success in improvisation. We'll explore methods for transcription and ear training.

In this video, we'll focus on the first element: Harmony and Melody. We'll conduct practical exercises to explore and connect chord tones to develop a solid understanding of harmony.

In the upcoming videos, we'll address the other elements and present practical tips and exercises to improve your improvisational skills.

Thank you for watching! Don't forget to download the sheet music and playbacks to join in. I look forward to your feedback and stay tuned for the next video, where we'll take a closer look at form control.

Until next time, happy practicing!
