This recipe is for the authentic yet mild version of the hot & spicy Sri Lankan devilled prawns. Make it your way by adjusting the spiciness and enjoy one of Sri Lanka's favorite seafood recipes.

Ingredients: Sri Lankan Devilled Prawns (Shrimp)

30 medium prawns/shrimp (cleaned)
4 tablespoons ketchup & 2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 1/2 teaspoon each garlic & ginger powder
1/2 teaspoon salt & paprika (or chili powder)
1 oz oil & 2 tablespoons butter
1 heaped tablespoon white sugar
1/2 teaspoon Red pepper flakes
VEGETABLES: 1 stalk leeks, few colored peppers, 1 tomato,
1/2 red onion

Wash the cleaned shrimp. Pat dry. Fry in hot oil & butter for two minutes on each side. Add the chopped vegetables except tomato. Toss for few seconds. Add tomato. Toss again for few seconds. Add the sauce mixture (soy sauce, ketchup, salt, garlic, ginger, sugar) and mix for 30 seconds until prawns/shrimp is well coated in sauce. Turn off heat and take pan off the heat immediately. Serve hot.
