In this video, we talk
In this video, we talk about the gut microbiome, its role, and how to improve it. The gut microbiome is bacteria, fungi, viruses, and archaea that live in our digestive tract. It consists of 1200 species and 100 trillion microbial cells, weigh between 2 and 3 kilograms, and plays a critical role in our health.
The key physiological functions of the microbiome include
- harvesting energy
- increasing gut integrity
- protecting against pathogens
- regulating host immunity
Some people call the gut the “second brain,” and that’s probably not too far off. In fact, the brain and gut are connected through one of the longest cranial nerves in the body, the Vagus nerve.
So, keep your gut microbiome diverse and healthy, it will pay out in a big way!
