Did you know that the Wyeth Study Center, managed by the Brandywine Museum of Art, has two locations: at the Brandywine’s Chadds Ford campus and at Maine’s Farnsworth Art Museum? Leith MacDonald, one of the Brandywine staff based at the Farnsworth, is the curator of an exciting new exhibition there that is the focus of this lively, illustrated virtual conversation. Edward Hopper and Andrew Wyeth: Rockland, Maine brings together a rarely seen group of watercolors by two iconic American artists in response to a place that inspired both of them with its buildings, landscapes, and historic industries. The show is accompanied by a fully illustrated 80-page catalogue, available now in both museums’ stores. In conversation with Dr. William L. Coleman, the Brandywine’s Wyeth Foundation Curator and Director of the Andrew & Betsy Wyeth Study Center, Leith will share an inside perspective on the exhibition development process and discoveries he made about the linked practice of Hopper and Wyeth along the way.

Leith MacDonald is Assistant Collection Manager in the Andrew & Betsy Wyeth Study Center of the Brandywine Museum of Art. He has curated numerous exhibitions, is President of the board of the Monhegan Artist’s Residency, and is an artist trained as a woodblock printmaker.
